Beats Tour

Beats Tour Review (Price - $149.95)

The Beats brand has always been hyped to be some of the best headphones available, claiming that using them will allow you to listen to music as it was meant to be heard. Skeptical that there could be that much of a difference between these and other brands I've tried, I bought a pair to see if the Beats would live up to their claims of greatness.

The Review
Sound - A++
It's safe to say that my skepticism was immediately gone after using the Beats Tour headphones for the first time. The clarity is astounding. Your hear every note, every word, things you'd never be able to hear with other headphones. Included with the beats are several different sets of earbuds of different sizes. Monster includes a note inside the packing that stresses the importance of finding the best fitting tips so that they create a proper seal, and when you do, all you can hear is the music. For better or for worse, somebody 6 feet away from you will have a hard time yelling loud enough to overpower the sound cancelation from the Beats Tour. The balance of bass and treble is amazing, if not perfect. You no longer have need for the EQ feature if you own an iPhone. Set it to off, and it's exactly as it should be. Tinkering with it will cause you to lose some quality of the sound. One last note, the sound quality is perfect regardless of what genre you're listening to. It might sound silly for me to make that clarification, but in my experience, sometimes a difference in genre means a difference in quality with certain headphones.

Comfort - A
Obviously the most important factor in buying headphones is the sound. But if your ears ache during or after using your headphones, or just aren't comfortable, their pretty much useless. The Beats Tour get an A in that category as well. Of course if the size isn't right, they won't be comfortable. So as big of a pain as it is, take the time to find the right fit, it's worth it. If for whatever reason the headphones won't stay in, Monster includes two attachments that snap onto the Beats and go over your ears. I've never had to use them.

Durability - C+
So, the one drawback with these headphones is the durability. If you keep your headphones in your pocket among other things like your phone, you simply have to use the included case. It'll save you from having to replace your headphones. I've personally done it myself, but luckily for me the Best Buy Replacement Plan I bought is surprisingly broad in terms of conditions for replacing items.

Final Verdict - A+
My doubts dispelled, I have to say these are the best headphones I've ever owned. Using these headphones is more of an experience more than anything else. Be careful with your handling of the headphones, use the case, and enjoy. If you're like me, and go through mountains of headphones trying to find a decent sounding pair, skip the trips back and forth buying the $20-30 pairs of headphones hoping to find one that doesn't disappoint, save up the money, and spend the $150 to get these. It's well worth the money.
